hibu Participates in National “Wear Red Day”
At hibu, we’re proud to support the American Heart Association and participate in National Wear Red Day® — the first Friday each February. As their website describes it, “this is a day to bring attention to the staggering fact that heart disease and stroke kill 1 in 3 women, yet it’s 80% preventable.”
We joined American’s across the country – including in our Cedar Rapids office (shown) – to help support this life-saving effort. Since the first National Wear Red Day in 2003, tremendous strides have been made in the fight against heart disease and stroke in women:
- Nearly 90% have made at least one healthy behavior changes
- Today, nearly 300 fewer women die from heart disease and stroke each day
- Death in women has decreased by more than 30 percent over the past 10 years.
Funds raised by Go Red and Wear Red Day support educational programs to increase women’s awareness about their risk for heart disease and stroke as well as critical research to discover scientific knowledge about cardiovascular health.
